シキミ科ダイウイキョウの果実。精油は健胃、去痰などを目的に用いられています。また最近では抗インフルエンザ治療薬のタミフルの原料としても知られています。それ以外にはソースやカレーなどの香辛料、歯磨きの賦香料としても知られてます。また古美術品の甲冑などの虫よけ、オレンジにさしてゴキブリ除けなどにも使われています。　

Fruit of Illcium verum Hook.f.Illiciaceae It’s an essential oil used for stomach and expectorant. Recently, this has become the origin of ‘Tamiflu’, an anti-flu medicine. It is also used as an ingredient for curry flavor and many sauces. It was also used as a repellant, as an ancient art of body-armor. It is also placed on orange slices as cockroach repellant.
